摘要
英语文章的标题有着自己的特点和功能,而修辞手法的使用,则使其显得更加醒目、雅致、震撼心灵。本文运用大量实例论述了英语文章标题的修辞特点,同时指出:翻译英语文章标题中的修辞时,应兼顾到“等值翻译”和“等效翻译”两种标准,而“简洁、准确”则是翻译过程中应坚持的基本原则。
Rhetorical devices, though helping make an English article more elegant, eye-catching and original, are difficult to retain in English-Chinese translation. This paper discusses, through examples, the rhetorical features of English titles. It points out that, when translating the rhetorical devices in English titles, both translational equivalence and functional equivalence can be taken as the criteria. And when it is impossible to use any rhetorical device in the Chinese version, the basic principle should be to keep brief and accurate.
