Though the inscribed stones unearthed from the tombs of the Han Dynasty are not pure Buddhist paintings, they contain rich eco - aesthetic ideas of the early Buddhist existentialism. The emergence of such aesthetic ideas is closely related to the specific background of cultural transformation. Through a study of the vivid inscribed stones, we can get to know not only the cold but humanistic traits of early Buddhism and the principle of equality for all but also the serious warning of eco - calamity and the ultimate concern for fate. These burial stone articles with a history of two thousand years are precious cultural relics which have much reference significance to solving the worsening eco- crises today.
